One Book, One Vancouver
One Book, One Vancouver (OBOV) was a book club for the entire city, cultivating a culture of reading and discussion in Vancouver by bringing people together around [one] great [book]. Over nine years from 2002 to 2011, the program aimed to encourage people to read, increase our sense of community by creating a common topic of conversation and create opportunities to engage people in reading and discussion about a variety of topics. Inspired the by success of similar initiatives in cities like Chicago, Los Angeles and Seattle, One Book, One Vancouver was the first initiative of its kind in Canada. http://www.vpl.ca/obov/
