I was disappointed with the first book but I still decided to read the second book hoping for a good sequel. I should have known that it would be the same as the first book. Arsinoe, Mirabella, and Katharine have now switched positions regarding how they feel about killing each other. There was a lot of unnecessary detail and story that did not need to be added into the book. I figured that at the end of the book I would know who was the queen but I never found out. The end of the book revealed a large plot twist and made me very confused. I have heard that there will be a third book and that there are prequels but I think that I will stop reading the series. Rating- 3.5/5 - @readit12 of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library I really don’t know how to feel about this series. The pace has been a big problem for me, and the series should have been a mere duology. I’m not necessarily sure if I’m going to continue on with the next installment because things wrapped up pretty well in this one. For all those acquainted with Mirabella, Katherine and Arsinoe from Three Dark Crowns, they are going to be unrecognizable at the beginning of this novel. Katherine is the “evil, powerful” one Mirabella once used to be, and Arsinoe is the new Mirabella when it comes to her wanting to save her sisters and not kill them. Slowly, they all return to their normal selves except Katherine, and I still have no clue what happened to her. To be honest, this was a boring book and not much more than that! The ending was predictable and once again left me confused as to what, exactly, is left? Rating 2.5/5 - @jewelreader of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library
