So much is packed into such a short book. A year has passed since the events from the first book and she is suffering from PTSD. She decides to go home for a little while to go on a pilgrimage and see her family again, only she isn't the same person she was when she left. She also takes Okwu with her. This book is all about finding out who she is and who she wants to be and what she is willing to sacrifice. It is also about family and acceptance and belonging. I do wish it could have been longer, but at the same time, I kind of think its length is one of its strong suits. It's beautifully written and I can't wait until the next book comes out.
