Lance Hanson is the 'forest cop' on the North Shore. His world turns upside down when he finds a murdered man at Baraga's Cross. You get a three-in-one story with this book. Yes, it's a mystery with a thoughtful Norwegian investigator helping the FBI. And, if you love the North Shore this reads like a beautiful homage at times. Then, because Lance is an avid historian, you'll learn about the immigrant and native people who have lived there. But, that also makes the book a bit disjointed and I think it lost something in translation. Loving the North Shore as I do, I'll probably continue reading the trilogy by this Norwegian author, all set there. Otherwise, I wouldn't.
