As an adult viewer I felt that there were many important themes within the storyline of a cute bear and a search for home in a new city. There are themes to do with loss of home and family, historical references to the evacuation of children from central areas to the countryside in Britain during WWII, ideas and concerns relating to refugees and immigration in general, and also the perpetual conflict of wildness and risk versus safety and security. The film was touching and dealt with the dilemma of keeping the family protected and secure while considering how adventure and challenges enhance life experience. Adaptability and flexibility provide this family with new experiences, new skills and a brand new meaning of family.
