The movie starts out with a truly amazing depiction of the earthquake. Then you get to the Sophie's Choice moment - the mother has to chose which twin to save, while the kids themselves can listen into the discussion. Heart-rending! After that, you see the two kids being brought up, one by the mother and the other by loving foster-parents. Here the movie runs out of steam - the kids have their troubles, but I found myself much less engaged. Finally, after what seems way too long comes the Hollywood-style ending. The ending is moving and finally resolves the bad feelings from the earthquake.
