An erudite look at the "millionaire migrants" from Hong Kong, Taiwan and South Korea who emigrated for a passport of convenience and other reasons to Canada, Australia and New Zealand with a specific focus on Vancouver. This treatise is well crafted and very balanced. The author reviews this migration with both a qualitative and quantitative view in a very balanced manor. Published in 2010, the data points are only up to around 2008 so this book misses the bulk of the recent wave from mainland China. A fair reading of this book indicates that the Business Immigration Program of the federal government should probably be ended. Additionally the objectivity from the developer, realtor, builders and governments on the impact of house prices from wealthy Asian immigrants is extremely suspect. This is a timely review of this wave of immigration done in a very objective way that includes many personal anecdotes. Worth reading if you are interested.
