This is my second Flavia de Luce novel - the 2nd in the series about a precocious 11 yr old girl in post WWII England. Our gal Flavia is a logical thinker living by her own rules fascinated by chemistry and death. Allowed to roam her small English town free, Flavia's acute senses stumble her into murder mysteries. In this episode, she finds herself meeting a pair of passer-throughers stranded by their broken down van. Upon finding out they are a TV famous puppeteer dual the town Vicar insists they give a couple shows while in town. At first the couple seems to be strangers to the town, but slowly Flavia is able to draw solid lines connecting the puppeteer to people of the town. Lines begin to cross with the unusual death of a young boy in the town from several years earlier and Flavia finds herself with not one - but two murder mysteries on her hands. I read this on in audio and am so glad I did. The first in the series I read a hard copy and the voice didn't settle in me well enough to grasp the dry witted humor of the young girl. This narrator helped me see the quick transitions in Flavia's inner dialogue that makes the story so enjoyable. Minimal violence but no romance makes it a fun unique cozy type of mystery.
