Please - Please - Please don't anyone dare tell me that this vacuous, comatose freakshow was really supposed to be the best and the funniest movie ever made about Rock'n'Roll - 'Cause, hey, if that was so, then, let me tell ya, plain and simple - Rock'n'Roll is in frickin' serious need of resuscitation, like, pronto!_____ I sincerely think that doofus-director, Rob Reiner, must've secretly hated everything that rock'n'roll stood for to have presented these fictitious, UK rockers known as "Spinal Tap" in such a drab, dim-witted, and disfavorable light as was clearly the case here._____ Over these many years I have heard so much positive praise about This Is Spinal Tap's outrageous hilariousness, and such - But, for me, (considering its over-ripe subject matter) it turned out to be one of the tamest and lamest comedies that I've ever seen._____ This severely dated film should've been literally loaded to the rafters with great one-liners, silly off-the-wall shenanigans and zaniness galore - But, unfortunately, on top of its painful predictability, it didn't contain a single, solitary memorable line worth quoting._____ I seriously thought that this film's 82-minute running time was really pushing the limits of what I could reasonably tolerate. Had this film, perhaps, been edited down to, say, 30 minutes, then I think that its overall appeal and humorous punch might've greatly benefited in the long run._____ So, would I say that "Rock'n'Roll Rules" (!?) - Nope. It doesn't. At least from where This Is Spinal Tap is concerned, it doesn't!
