Released back in 1934 - Cecil B. DeMille's cinematic showpiece "Cleopatra" is a perfect example of ancient history being royally sabotaged for the sake of Hollywood glitz and glamour.

Produced on a whopping "Depression Era" budget of $1 million - "Cleopatra" stars actress, Claudette Colbert (as the title character) who (at every possible opportunity) gleefully vamps it up, big-time, as the seductive Egyptian Queen.

To be sure - This tale of treachery, betrayal, and decadence is pure spectacle where you're soon to find the posturing actors (and their inflated egos) being repeatedly upstaged and dwarfed by all of the extravagantly massive sets.
