If there's one thing that this 1930 production doesn't do, and, that is, paint a pretty picture of war (no matter whose side one might be fighting on).
"All Quiet On The Western Front" clearly shows the harsh realities of war from the non-glamorous perspective of one fighting on the front-lines in fierce battle.
Even though this film's story is a decidedly bleak, grim, and despairing depiction of war - I think that it is certainly worth a view strictly from its historical outlook on war-time matters.
