Add a CommentGetz is the MASTER of this genre of music! I LOVE this CD!
One. Two. Cha-Cha-Cha.
Born of Russian descent - Stan Getz was an outstanding, American, tenor saxophonist who rose to notable fame in the jazz-music business during the 1950s & 60s.
A Grammy-award winner - Getz is noteworthy for introducing Canadian & American music audiences to the funky, silky-smooth "Bossa Nova" sounds which had first originated in the Latin-American countries.
This "Jazz Masters" CD contains 16 tracks in all which were recorded by Getz (along with accompanying musicians) in the years from 1962-1967. Two of my favourite tunes here are - "Desafinado" and "The Girl From Ipanema" (with vocals by Astrud Gilberto).
*Note* - In 1991 - Stan Getz (64 at the time) died from liver cancer caused by a lifetime of alcohol-addiction.
