(*The "Control Voice" quote*) - "There is nothing wrong with your television set. We are controlling transmission. For the next hour you will experience the awe and mystery which reaches from the inner mind to.... The Outer Limits!"

With its emphasis clearly placed on the genre of SyFy - "The Outer Limits" was a weekly TV series that ran for just 2 seasons (1963-1965). There's no question about it that this program was in direct competition with "The Twilight Zone".

So - If you are willing to cut "The Outer Limits" some serious slack, then, you are most certain to get at least some sort of enjoyment out of watching it. Just don't set your standards too high and you won't be too disappointed with what it has to offer.

DISC 1: Two soldiers from the future are accidentally time-warped back to 1950’s America where they battle it out in a living room and ruin the carpet. A frigid William Shatner is haunted by Venusian muppets. A two-dimensional creature loses its edge in a three-dimensional L.A. Some future Star Trek alumni give a novel spin to the old Jekyll & Hyde story when a drug-dabbling professor mixes a bad cocktail (look for the camera crew’s reflection on the side of the “Hart-Bellaire” building...oops!). In a fine example of “TV noir” a confused Robert Culp talks to the hand as goth aliens chase him across time. While trying to communicate with alien explorers in the Arizona outback a businessman and his hysterical wife battle with sinister tumbleweeds, homicidal frogs, and some persistently rolling stones.
DISC 2: Martian dust lobsters develop a taste for astronauts on the half shell. A scientist is haunted by a wrinkled bedsheet (blooper alert: stagehand reflected in mirror). When its creator is found dead a robot must prove its innocence in court (blooper alert: little girl supposedly flung across street is actually caught by a pair of arms just off camera...requires slo-mo). In an episode reminiscent of “Cocoon”, four soldiers turn a hole in the head into a one-way ticket to Never Never Land (blooper alert: camera crew reflected in little Johnny’s side window). When an insensitive goldfish in flannel pyjamas threatens the Earth a crafty woman takes him on a picnic instead.
