I read this originally when it was first published.I really enjoyed it then and I still do. I have just read it again to prove that Elizabeth George's early Inspector Lynley mysteries are far better written and the interaction of the original characters in the story more convincing than the more recent stereotypes.
A long story: combination family dynamics, love story and mystery rolled into one: well written, well paced, many scenarios presented as to who might be the killer with more than one motive to keep the plot moving and engaging. Chose to read it as a base to read other mysteries in the Lynley series with returning cast of characters.
This is my FIRST eBook and the experience was Fantastic !
The story filled in many gaps in the books I have read/seen on TV, from this series.
The story itself is very gripping. It is one of the very few that I had great trouble to put down , right up to the last page.
Why doesn't the RECORD include the date of publication?
I think Ms. George is one of the best contemporary crime writers available. She writes very well and her plots are always really clever and excellently tied together. I like her earlier work much better than her newest books bot all are very good.
