A fabulous book of affirmations, especially for girls - body image, hair, clothing, etc. The way the character takes control over the illustrator's pencil is also interesting. This book will give us a new anthem

One of my favorites! A great reminder to love yourself, be yourself and ROCK WHAT YA GOT!

A cute, little book with a lot to say, all boiled down to one simple refrain: "Rock what ya got and rock it a lot. Don't let anyone say what you're not." From personal identity to a person's unique differences and social expectations weighing those things down, this story of a little drawing proving to her creator that she's perfect the way she is can easily be associated with a number of social commentaries and ideas of being satisfied with oneself. Disregarding those external readings, though, the book itself is still a fun, colorful, and inspiring read.

I was feeling super negative about myself. My clothes were a bit too snug. My face was a tad too round. My grey hair was a little too grey. Then this book showed up at my branch and I realized the Universe was sending me a message. I read each page slowly, taking in the message, and adjusting my attitude. We all can use a reminder to "Rock what ya got and rock it a lot. Look at what IS, not what is NOT. Find what is yours, and carve out your spot. Take it and own it and rock it - A LOT!!"

Self-love is important and this book reminds you that you always need to rock what ya got, a wonderful mantra for children (and adults) of all ages!
