This is one of those picture books that is annoying when you figure parents don't want deep psychology in the books they share with little ones. This is more of a book to share with third graders up and even with adults struggling with anger and unhappiness. I can't see it being used in a story time - that's for sure.

This book is an excellent discussion-starter, as it leaves the readers hanging about how the problem will be resolved! After all, how do you overcome your negative image and start afresh with others...especially when they have learned to ignore you, which in turn makes you stare daggers at them even more? Poor Little Brown. This is a really important conversation to have with each other.
