Add a CommentAlthough I knew that this story was originally written several decades ago, I nonetheless still went into it with high hopes. MHC is an excellent writer, and knows how to craft a good story. But upon reading it, and reading it with the knowledge that this was her first novel, I was still a bit disappointed in it. One would classify it as biographical fiction, but it just ended up way too dry for my tastes. I plodded along, completely disinterested and unable to sink into the story of the cast of characters MHC had at her disposal.
Overall, the story was okay, but it was just really dry and flat.
