I was so looking forward to reading this book since I've been playing "catch up" with the series and have been going backwards. I had hoped this one would be better, but as it turns out it was a bit convoluted for my tastes and just a little too implausible to be able for me to suspend disbelief. It's interesting to note (at least IMHO) that his story lines, character development and writing style seem to get better with each novel. Doesn't seem that he's trying so hard to make Elvis Cole witty and clever but rather letting him evolve into the snarky fun character he has become! Love Pike ~ period!! On to Sunset Express ...

Ah what fools these mortals be to believe that anyone in Hollywood would care about anyone but themselves! Cole and Pike take on a pack of rednecks in the bayou country and the Big Easy which it isn't. Bunch of nasty folks out there and surprise-there may be a teeny bit of prejudice lurking amongst the natives and them Hollywood grubbers as well.

I give an A+ to Elvis Cole and Joe Pike as characters. Love the irreverence of Elvis and the deadly potential of Pike. I'd rate the story a C+. I felt it was too complicated for my short-burst reading style. The romantic entanglement seemed to be pasted on. The action was ok but too sudden for the long progression to it. Even so, I'm a fan. Here's to hope that further stories are worthy of the great lead characters.

Entertaining book. Didn't like the ending too much but the rest was good
