The high-tech lab Effective Engineering Solutions is working on the translation of a centuries-old stone tablet of a previously undiscovered civilization: the Phaistos Disc. Gideon Crew is contacted by a former coworker, Manuel Garza, who now works at EES. Their former employer, Eli Glinn, has vanished without a trace, shutting down the project. Fresh off a diagnosis that gives him only months to live, Crew joins Garza in a last ditch effort to decode the Disc. What they discover will either save Gideon's life-- or bring it to a sudden, shocking close.

An interesting book. Well written - well paced with lots of action. Two -thirds of the way through, the plot became a bit too far fetched although others might not think so.

This one felt like it was phoned in. Gideon Crew has only months to live when his employer suddenly stops paying him. When he visits the home office it's being shut down. When he and another disgruntled ex-employee, Manuel Garza, cook up a scheme for one last pay day, neither of them know what they've let themselves in for.

While it sounds like a great premise, this was really a novella with very little character development. The plot was episodic and predictable.

Gideon Crew

The Pharaoh Key relates the adventures of two coworkers who set out to Egypt after the engineering company they work in shuts down. A computer in their company has cracked the long-awaited translation of a centuries old stone tablet, the Phaistos disk. Gideon and Manuel don't know what exactly this will lead to but are determined to find out. Their trail leads them to some gruesome situations and they come inches to death. They are joined in their hunt by Imogen and the three of them survive by using their brains and talent. The book is fast-paced and thrilling if somewhat unbelievable and ends well.

Very reminiscent of other books I've read, but still a fun adventure.

This is a bad book. Simple-minded characterizations, sketchy plot. Reads like they just did it for the bucks. Read the first part, then skipped to the end. Not worth reading the rest.

If you were hoping for closure on the demise of Gideon Crew you won't really get it in this last book of the series. The ending was left open, in my mind at least, and as is usually the case in fiction, anything could happen.
The story itself was a bit of a disappointment. Not nearly enough Egyptian in the writing. Heavy on sand and hardship and light on characterization and plot.

Have to agree. Quite a disappointment. Read like a script for an old silent movie.

A navel gazing cop out of a book. A true disappointment. C'est dommage.

Always eagerly awaiting the latest from these authors, I was so ready for a good read. From my perspective, it was like an old and not smart Tarzan movie. Seriously. Not worth the effort.
