The police say it was suicide. Anna says it was murder. They're both wrong. Last year, Tom and Caroline Johnson chose to end their lives; one seemingly unable to live without the other. Their daughter Anna is struggling to come to terms with her parents' deaths, unwilling to accept the verdict of suicide. Now with a young baby herself, she feels her mother's absence keenly and is determined to find out what really happened to her parents. But as Anna digs up the past, someone is trying to stop her. Sometimes it's safer to let things lie.

I really enjoyed all the twists and turns. Nothing is as it first seems and it is very easy to to make assumptions. Just when I thought everything was resolved, there's that end! Claire Mackintosh may be a little formulaic but if it works, why not?

I really loved the author's first book, I Let You Go. However, her two most recent novels have been a big disappointment. This book, like the others, was a quick and easy read, but the storyline was a bit convoluted and the conclusion felt like it did not add up in the end. I probably won't be reading any more of her books, sadly.

A thrilling read that keeps you on your toes, guessing at possible theories along the way. Some drastic plot changes along the way to keep things interesting. I couldn’t put the book down!

The problem with books that are so good is that the authors who write them will often follow the same format, hoping for another winner. Mackintosh has done this with her last two books. I loved her first title, but the others haven’t lived up to the same expectation. On the other hand, Let Me Lie was, at least for me, better than her second work. Again there’s a twist, which I admit I expected, but didn’t get correct. What made the book better was the last two sentences. I’m not going to spoil anything, but I definitely didn’t expect it and it absolutely made the story for me.

Well written story involving a family who is dealing with suicide. As this story develops there are many twists and turns that keep you engaged until the very end - and even then is it really the end??????? Keeps your interest until the very last line on the last page. Highly recommend.

It was hard to grasp what I was reading right at first. It is well worth the time! I will be reading more by this author. This book is about suscide and the aftermath of the person left behind to cope with the emotions and the affects. Full of twist and turns you will not want to miss this well written book.

Spell binding book by Clare Mackintosh. This is the third of her books that I have read and she always keeps me interested. Let Me Lie has the same twist as her other books. I thought I knew who was involved, then changed my mind and it was someone else. If you like a good mystery I would recommend her books.

Another page turner from MacIntosh--her 3rd book in a fairly short period of time. The only downside to her books now is you go through just waiting for the "gotcha" that changes everything. For me I was probably overly concerned with that aspect (I hate to be fooled). The plot twist was not quite so twisty as some her other books but still pretty good (and a little added jab right at the end). One of my new favorite authors.

Ever since I read "I Let You Go" I have held Clare Mackintosh in high esteem for her skills in putting together the red herrings and plot twists that surprise you time after time. "Let Me Lie" does not disappoint. We see the story from Anna's POV as well as Murray, a retired police officer who is still helping out at the station and is Anna's first contact there. In addition we have unnamed narrators who could be male or female, alive or dead. Add in a neighbor dispute, a new baby, a faithful dog, a car chase and more and you have a riveting novel. Highly recommended!
