Fantastic movie. A young woman joins the marines and discovers her true calling. The love between Megan and her bomb sniffing dog Rex is so well shown that I could feel it. This movie shows the importance of what soldiers and their dogs do in their war efforts.

Horrible language throughout. I was expecting pg-13 style language. This movie should have been rated R.

Not at all recommended.

A good story about a troubled young woman who finds meaning in her life in the Marine Corp dog handling corp.

Anybody expecting an war movie will be disappointed. Fortunately this is a love story about a young woman who learned everything from her partner. It also shows that women despite all the BS talked about them can fight along with the "Boys". She fought her dysfunctional family, non existent life and found everything she needed not from a human but a dog named Rex.

A very touching movie for showing care, compassion and love for animal in the military system and work in Irak war, and the determination of one youg solder lady who fight to get things right because she cared for a dog. Beautiful sensitive movie to watch.

This movie does work on a level of a bond between a working dog and U.S. Marine. It made me care about the lives of those sniffer dogs and even had sympathy for their handler's as they were faced with adversity even while trying to adopt the "retired" Marine, Rex.
The film was strengthened by the sensitivity it displayed and with the on screen background text at the ending.
A movie for anyone to see. Well done and had me in tears near the end.

Directed by Gabriela Cowperthwaite in 2017 based on the true events about young female Marine Megan Leavey and a combat dog named Rex, this American docudrama depicts a troublesome-yet-sensitive, uplifting bond between the handler and the dog.
It is such an emotionally satisfying drama at the end that you would love this film if you're a dog lover.

Insidious US propaganda with the Americans fantasizing that they were the good guys in Iraq.

Still, the story works well as a movie.

I was inspired to watch this movie from reading Barbara Nickless' "Blood on the Tracks" (I recommend it). Because of reading the book - different story & author but similar setup - it made this movie better for me to relate to.

The dead-end job. The getting fired from the dead-end job for being hung over. Yeah. This isn't working.
You don't leave because you have somewhere to go, you leave because nothing is keeping you there.
Geez, you'd think with all the taxes we give to the military, they'd come up
with some kind of street sign situation.
Do we know the meaning of the words "won't," "can't" or "late"?
-No, master sergeant.
Gunny, how do I become a dog handler?
Yeah. What do I have to do exactly?
-For starters, you need to stop screwing up. Then you'll need an expert rifle score, above 90% on all your exams, a first-class PFT.
They're not even dogs anymore. They're warriors, and they come back with all the same issues we do.
... he was just scared and probably confused. Probably just as confused and scared as I was at the time.
