A very strident obnoxious Reece Witherspoon character (usually love r.w.). A plastic faced Nicole Kidman, and Laura Dern as the mother of that little girl! Grandmother maybe.
Odds and ends of characters who talk directly to the camera, totally disrupting the flow of the story. Not on my time.

One of the best mini-series in recent memory. The kaleidoscopic structure; brilliant direction, writing and acting raises the soap opera to the level of art. I was immediately hooked — binged it till 4 a.m.

Was really looking forward to this, but after just finishing the book, I was really disappointed. Just an FYI for anyone who’s read the book, this series is loosely based on the book and not a true adaptation. The big clue? “Season One” ends just minutes before the book finishes, so what the hell is “Season Two” going to be about?

Also, major changes: takes place in California and not Australia; there are guns and smoking in the film version (making it truly American). Subtle differences, Jane is supposed to be waif thin and chewing gum all the time as a consequence of what happened to her, not sleeping with a gun under her pillow. Bonnie is nothing like the written character. An affair is thrown in that doesn’t exist in the book. And on and on ...

Should’ve changed the name of the mini-series.

With the finely crafted script and well picked cast blend effortlessly for a riveting and emotional tale that this mini-series spins. No wonder why they got so many awards. Makes you want another season!

As far as I'm concerned, between this and The Night Of, HBO has the perfect algorithm for constructing a near-perfect miniseries. I started reading the book and just could not get into it, but from the first episode of this I was completely enthralled. This is one of the most binge worthy things I've seen since Stranger Things.

With all of the buzz around this HBO limited series, my expectations may have been too high. It is worth seeing at least once for the incredible cast. For me, it felt a lot like a soap opera, and I didn't think the plot had much forward momentum until the end. It dragged. I have not read the adult fiction book of the same title on which it was based. While you wait for Big Little Lies (there is currently a long waiting list at Hennepin County Library), you might want to consider watching season 1 of Broadchurch. Like Big Little Lies, Broadchurch is focused on a murder investigation in a coastal community, but I think it is a much better whodunit with more complex characters and better character development and pacing. Big Little Lies is for mature audiences and contains violence, sex, profanity and drug use.

I really enjoyed the book and read it again before I watched the series. For the most part, they did a really good job sticking to the book. They kept the eyewitnesses which was one of the reasons I liked the book so much. It added humor to the story. An affair that didn't happen in the book was thrown into the storyline that wasn't necessary. I thought it took away from the story. There is enough going on that the affair didn't need to be added. The acting was good and the right stars were hired. Their chemistry was really good. For some reason, I just felt a little disappointed from how much I enjoyed the book. It's still worth watching.

The show was great! At times it got a little too soap opera for me but I was able to look pass that.

The first couple of episodes are a bit slow but once you get to the third one, you're hooked and you are right along with the characters, discovering all their "hidden secrets" missteps and big, little lies.

My least favorite character had to have been Madeline(played by Reese Witherspoon), she just came across as a really unlikeable woman on the show.
