I did love One Thousand White Women a decade ago when I read it and was surprised to see this sequel pop up. A bit cheesy and girly with wild speculation, this book is about a bit of historical fiction fun and I enjoyed it. It seemed to end abruptly though like it was missing a chapter to round out the beginning.

Epic historical fiction saga. The book tells the story of a small group of women who participate in a Brides for Indians program. They travel thru the Great Plains with a Cheyenne tribe and ultimately fight with them against the army at the Battle of Rosebud Creek. Filled with descriptive detail of the daily lives of the women and how they assimilate among the Indians. This is a sequel to the book One Thousand White Women, which I will now have to read. But I suggest future readers read them in order as this book tells the fate of characters from the first book. I loved every page of this book until the last page. The story ends abruptly and is open to your own interpretation. Some indicate this may mean a third book is forthcoming. Let's hope so. This book combines 3 of my favorite genres - historical fiction, outdoor adventure, and survivor stories, and would have been a 5 star read had it not been for the ending.

The prequel to the very popular One Thousand White Women. So interesting!
