The presidency of Donald Trump marks a profound change in the trajectory of American government, politics, and culture. He is the only person ever elected to be commander in chief who has not first held public office or served as a general in the military. His principles grow out of five decades of business and celebrity success -- not politics -- so he behaves differently than do traditional politicians. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich analyzes how President Trump thinks and makes decisions. He also presents Trump-style solutions for national security, education, health care, economic growth, government reform, and other important topics. Gingrich identifies the forces in the Washington establishment, media, and bureaucracy that will oppose the president at every turn. Finally, he explains the president's actions so far and lays out a vision for what Americans can do to help make President Trump's agenda a success.

Newt Gingrich has worked with a lot of presidents and knows of what he speaks. President Trump is different from all of those before him and the movement that put him in office represents a phenomenon that is worth studying. His principles grow out of five decades of business and celebrity success--not politics--so he behaves differently than do traditional politicians. He understands money and balance sheets and getting value for value received. Including expecting employees to work a full day and for him and not against him. The very essence of Trump's mission is a willingness to enact policies and set goals that send our country in a bold new direction - one that may be 'unreasonable' to Washington but is sensible to millions of Americans outside the Beltway. Only with the country's help will President Trump be able to overcome the entrenched interests in Washington and fulfill his promise to make America great again for all Americans.

Newt does understand President Trump. I enjoyed reading this book. Now I am starting to read Newt’s Trump’s America.

Was 6th in line on the "holds list" but my turn to read came very quickly. Once I started this well-written, very interesting book, found it very difficult to close it to get other things done. Newt Gingrich's writing style, even though he correctly writes in "third person", keeps the reader involved in the content because it's like he's speaking to his "audience". Mr. Speaker's research is comprehensive, in depth and very well sourced. Am very grateful for reading this insightful work because it enhances my understanding why OUR excellent 45th President of the United States made many of the decisions to help Americans by growing the economy, remarkably removing the excessive, overburdening regulations placed by the immediate past presidential administration. If you give yourself "permission" to read this book, cover-to-cover, with an open mind and open heart, it might help you better appreciate how lucky we are to have Donald J. Trump, Sr. as our President of the United States. I finished reading the book in just two days. Highly recommend this book.

I don't think I want to understand Trump, ever.

When ole Newt was Speaker of the House, he ended a most valuable gov't agency, greatly jeopardizing national security. I believe its name was the Office of Technology Assessment or the Office of Scientific Assessment; forget the exact name, but it was most important . . .
