Honor Harrington has faced ship-to-ship combat, assassins, political vendettas and duels. She's been shot at, shot down, and just plain shot; had starships blown out from under her, and made personal enemies who will do anything to ruin her, and she's survived it all. Now she finds herself on board a battlecruiser bound for a prison planet aptly named 'Hell' - and her scheduled execution. Put into solitary confinement, separated from her officers and her treecat Nimitz, and subjected to systematic humiliation by her gaolers, her future has become both bleak and short. Yet the one lesson Honor Harrington has never learned is how to give up . . .

State Security take Honor out of PRH hands for old trumped up war crime (see book #1). POW trip & execution goes south for State Security.
Loved the subplot of her wild hedonistic mother creating whirlwind on the poor stuffy Graysons.

I inhaled this book. This series definitely requires a sequential reading of the books, for each installment of Honor Harrington's journey builds upon the last. What makes this book compelling is the reader's concern for Honor and her crew, who become POWs (I think it's fair to assume the title gives this away) to enemies who believe the treaty regarding treatment of military prisoners is not only optional but stupid. Action-packed and ready for the big screen, this story is a great read!
