May and Nico seem to have it all: a loving relationship, a wonderful home and their beautiful baby, Cora. But one night, when they are at a dinner party next door, their daughter goes missing. They'd left her at home with the baby monitor on and had been checking on her every half hour, yet sometime between their last check and the time they get home, the baby disappears without a trace. Suspicion immediately focuses on the devastated parents, then on May, the shattered mother who has been suffering from post-partum depression. But the truth is a much more complicated story, and inside the curtained house, an unsettling, nerve-wracking account of what actually happened and of what may have happened to baby Cora unfolds. Detective Rasbach knows that the panicked couple is hiding something; May and Nico soon learn that each is keeping secrets, some of which they've kept for years; and baby Cora is still missing. A chilling tale of deception, duplicity and unfaithfulness.

Good beginning, slipping, repetitive page fillers at times and an ending that feels just put there. A fast read all the same.

With all the twists in the book, I was expecting a bit more of a surprise ending, but, as others have said, the ending is a bit disappointing.
The storyline was intriguing enough, but it didn't really go anywhere after the initial plot started revealing itself. Sort of predictable.

Super easy and enjoyable read. The ending, as several others have said, was weird and I feel it could have been left out.

While this book was definitely one that I had to keep reading to find out what happened, I felt something lacking. Perhaps it was the simplistic writing style, or the fact I did not find any of the characters especially likable. Nevertheless, that's fairly easy to look past as the story itself is engaging enough that it kept me interested. I would recommend this for a quick, suspenseful read, but would not say it was an outstanding book.

Loved this book! Such a page Turner, I could not put it down. I gave it 4.5 stars because the last 10 pages or so I found took away from the book a bit. Still a great read.

This book could have been a bit more realistic, but it is overall a great read. It really is a 'page turner'- I finished the book in just a few hours! I loved the general idea of having a kidnapped baby with the disturbing twists to the story. But I expected a little more from the ending.

A real page turner. Didn't like the ending.

This book did not do it for me. It started out great, but I really thought the real perpetrator in the end was silly. In the end it read like a soap opera.

This book is honestly somewhat difficult for me to rate. I was rather captivated, but the ending was so...random??

I was super annoyed that the parents could be so selfish and completely victimize their baby as the outcome of their personal problems (i.e., finance and health). However, at times, I couldn't help feeling bad for them and sympathizing.

The tone was fine for me. Straightforward, right to the point. BUT I was getting annoyed at all the sentences starting with pronouns.

The Couple Next Door gave me some pretty significant messages too. It's a reminder that money can be blinding, causing people to make some awful choices.

Anyway, I really can't say much about the book—seeing that it's a mystery and I don't want to reveal too much—but I did like it.

Too plodding and repetitive for the first half.
