This historical fiction novel takes place as World War II is drawing to a close in East Prussia. It tells the little-known story of the sinking of the Wilhelm Gustloff, a German military transport ship.
Three teenagers each with their own secret to hide, are fleeing the Soviet army. Their only hope is an evacuation by sea, but when their ship is struck by torpedoes, everyone must fight for survival. Fans of The Book Thief may also enjoy this historical novel set in World War II.
