Plausible story by replacing fresh water for oil as scarce resource with the dangers of fracking a century from now. Mecha not primitive enough. Overpopulated US in turmoil. My beef is that couldn't we get water from asteroid belt or comets via space program? Nothing mentioned on around the globe or predicted ice free Northwest passage for Russia or even China to exploit . US conquered Mexico & Central America for fresh produce? Only a blip on China via space war knocking out each other satellites. Nada on United Nations or NATO? I'm not convinced on ending because if United States imploded then "liberated" Canada get desperate gun toting human waves on their border again & Mexico too.
