Interesting first book in a trilogy series by Maria V Snyder. It did take a few chapters for me to get interested in the book, after which it became very captivating due to its riveting and intense detail. The book is written in such a way that you can feel the environment around you and the scenes occurring in them. I felt empathy for the characters due to the way they were brought to life by Snyder. Looking forward to the second book of the trilogy.

Finally a fantasy story with a strong romance element! I love reading fantasy stories and always wondered how a young woman and a young man constantly traveling together didn't develop sexual tension, but finally I found a book that invests in romance aside from the main adventure.

This story is so difficult to put down from how fast paced it goes!

Amazing debut to this series.

Captivation, exciting and of course...

Pretty cool conception of healing, where the healer actually takes the injury into themselves. That being said, too much concentration on relationships, not nearly on the cool world building and action.

I love the premise of this book with the idea of healers who cure others by taking the injuries and sicknesses of the patient into themselves. Avry was a strong lead though not one of my favourites and I liked the perverted villain that was Tohon. My favourite Maria V. Snyder book is still Poison Study (Valek is just soo drool worthy), but I will definitely be checking out this books sequel when it's released in 2013 :)

This was my first Maria Snyder novel but certainly not my last. Very good! Looking forward to the next book in the series.

Another great book from Maria Snyder. It was enjoyable, and interesting. It was full of adventure, interesting magic, a new world to explore, and a great heroine. I look forward to the next book.

A really good start to the series. Looks promising, I hope it's as good as her others in the fire or inside out.
