She's doing everything in her power to avoid violating her parole and going back to prison. But nothing is making that easy--not Ryan, who is convinced he can figure out the truth; not her mother, who clearly doubts Toni's innocence; and certainly not the group of women who made Toni's life miserable in high school and may have darker secrets than anyone realizes. I thought it was intriguing and I had to finish it. That being said, overall, it was quit depressing. There was a lot of unnecessary tragedy and poor treatment towards the main character from people....for the entire book. The ending was somewhat satisfying but I still found it to be sad. I like Chevy Stevens a lot, but of the 3 books I have read so far of her's, this was my least favourite. With a few tweaks and at least a little more positivity, it would have been better. That being said, I didn't hate it.

This book made me want to start reading again😊

I really struggled with this novel. In the beginning, it seemed like it was too immature, poorly written and I didn't much like the main characters. A little too much back and forth to prison. Even the ending was a bit of a let down after suffering through 360-odd pages. I really liked another of her novels so thought I'd try again but was disappointed.

This writer is a joy to read. Every word counts without the usual fill of overlong description of unimportant things. The novel is written with chapters almost alternating between the present and the past showing how the main character, Toni, got to be in the situation she presently is in. The story circulates around bullying - by teens, by police, by prisoners. It's a well told story from the point of view of the 17 year old girl from an ordinary family and her boyfriend who are accused and judged of being responsible for the murder of the girl's sister. I will be reading more of Stevens' books and not just because I like to support Canadian authors. The author who is from BC has placed the setting of this novel in her home town.

Excellent book, very engrossing. The relationship between Toni and Ryan was very heartfelt.

This book........It was a page-turner right until the end. I have to say, I was a bit disappointed in the ending, though. Things seemed a little rushed in the last few chapters. <SPOILER> I was also disappointed that she never seemed to make things right with her mom. I get that it is probably more realistic that way, but as a new mother it made me sad that a mother and daughter could have such a terrible relationship. Still, I'd like to read more Chevy Stevens, this and Still Missing were quite good reads.

I really liked this book it was so suspenseful once I started one night I couldn't put it down and didn't end up going to bed until very late! The next morning I couldn't wait to pick up where I left off and ended up finishing this in a total of a day. I thought it was well written and very suspenseful and a good story line. I would read again if I didn't already know the ending!

Why do people, like 'atfrancis', feel the need to state endings to books? If you don't like a book, just say it.
