Add a QuotePapa Rudy: Most wire walkers, they die when they arrive. They think they have arrived... But they are still on the wire. If you have three steps to do, and if you do those steps arrogantly... if you think you are invincible... You are going to die!
Cop (Frank:) FRANK: I gotta hand it to you damn frogs. You sure pulled the wool over my eyes. I gotta tell ya. What you did was somethin'. I know I'll never see anything like that again in my life. You got guts, pal. Good job.

Philippe: The story of my adventure was in the news all over the world. In France, when Papa Rudy heard of it, he was the happiest Papa Rudy in the world. And when Papa Rudy's angry, he's deadly angry. But when Papa Rudy's happy, his dogs get a double ration of food.

Jean: You know Philippe, the Towers seem different. They're different now.
Barry: That's right. They're different because you walked up there. Every New Yorker I talk to now says they love these towers.
Annie: Perhaps you brought them to life, Philippe - given them a soul.

Add a CommentAnnoying! The subject material is fascinating, but the accents and yelling are too much to handle. I found it extremely hard to watch to the end. It took a few times. It was meant to be watched in 3D which would have been cool to "experience" the walk.
Great true movie. Fascinating! Why had I not heard of this before?
A truly great movie with lots of fantastic performances. I've seen this movie at least twice and it never gets old.
I wish for subtitles, as what's being said can be a bit hard to decipher.
Even though I know he lives, and none of this is real (CGI) this movie still gives me serious fear of heights, even on a tiny screen.
The doc on him "Man on Wire" drags at times, but the ending, where his photo shows him sitting on the WTC roof to composer Eric Satie (Gymnopedie 1 or 3, both are great songs) . If it sounds familiar, it was also used in a Benny Hill skit where a girl dances out of a poster with a wink. I remembered it clearly from a good 35 years ago on the Benny Hill show before there was Internet.
Very touching scene.
Very good movie! JGL was awesome in this one!
I had really low expectations for this one, but it was actually pretty good. Good pacing!
Amazing story from a much simpler time. Well done; recommend.

Excellent!!!!!
More than just a highwire walk, though that part is intense, weak-in-the-knees scary.
A flamboyant man, his crazy band and his sky-high story.
"Dazzling" and "exhilarating" are not over-statements. Here's a nerve-wracking, sweat-inducing two hours for anyone with the slightest hint of acrophobia, particularly once the story moves to the towers. I spent the majority of this film perched forward and holding onto my seat. It's hard to believe that real people really tried something as daring and outrageous as this story tells. It's nearly unimaginable how someone with a grave fear of heights become a key player, nor how he endured the circumstances that unfolded. Even knowing how it was going to end didn't take away from the story, nor diminish the film for me. Follow this film with the documentary "Man on Wire", rather than the other way around, as other commenters have suggested. A half star lost for Joseph Gordon-Levitt's painful french accent, even though the rest of his performance is nothing short of amazing.
Much like the wire he walked on, this movie was "high tension!"
