A very, very graphic movie about a serial killer "in action".

This movie is crazy. I loved it, though it had me on the floor, nearly fainting at the climax. It's extreme, stylish, minimal, with great stream-of-conscious voiceover.

Due to the hysteria of the era when this film was created, the only way you would have seen this film at that time was through the bootleg VHS circuit; from under the counter at certain stores; or in Europe at theaters catering to porn aficionados. I first heard of the sicko upon which this flic has been based under examples of so-called "real" vampires. While lacking any of the mythical powers or undead night-walking qualities of the horror-movie staple, this freak was nevertheless a blood-drinking monster, who was repeatedly declared "sane" by a flawed legal system that released him to kill again. Now released in it's entirety - the gory tunnel murder scene that was ridiculously excised for fear of inciting copy-cats, though it's removal would have rather had a castrating effect on the film's visceral impact-is now restored. Fans of the slasher-film cycle will find a forgotten and bloody horror gem in this sick little pic. Shot in a "first-person" style that was unique in it's time and starring Erwin Leder of "Schindler's List", this is one flic you won't easily forget, as it takes you inside a killer's twisted and fragmented thinking. This release includes an optional prologue which gives some interesting background to the "making of" a serial-killer & which also details his prior history as a murderer. Features an interesting soundtrack by Krautrock God Klaus Shulze of "Tangerine Dream".
