Recommended by Sharon Bolton.

Detective Jack Caffery is faced with one of the most heart-wrenching cases of his life. A car-jacker is on the loose targeting cars with young children in them, taking the child as well as the car.

This is the first time reading a book by author Mo Hayder. I enjoyed the book Gone and will be reading more by this author. I read a lot of books and am always looking for new author.

This is my best Hayder novel to date. It starts with a kick and doesn't let go till the end. Even the ending is ominous of something that's up in the air. Great suspense, great drive. Fast as a bullet train that doesn't stop for any consideration. Hayder as got the talent. A real author who is her own drummer. Highly recommended.

Pretty good. Seemed to drag a bit in the middle. Not to hard to figure out the perpetrator, but I kept reading to the end.

Again Mo Hayder writes an excellent novel - with twists and turns. What can I say? She's great!

56st page – and you already know who is to blame. But even so – I kept reading to confirm that my guess was right. Yes, this novel is interesting as crime and thriller fiction. Also draws attention that there are no characters purely light or dark that each one of them has good and bad sides, excluding those who are by nature pure evil. There is an impression that you already saw many of described in this novel scenes on countless similar in content films.
And yet there is a strange repulsive and attractive force, which keeps you continuing to reading such literature.

Wow - found another can't put it down book - and hopefully a series. Typical middle aged British detec tive - single, issues in past, probs with women, unorthodox methods - but he gets results. Great characters and dialogue - good incentive for my own editing. Have her first book on gold now.

Hayder fans will not be disappointed. A good read. Felt the ending coming though.

A terrific, expertly crafted thriller from British crime writer Mo Hayder featuring her series character DI Jack Caffrey.

"Mo Hayder's gritty, intense thriller series featuring detectives Jack Caffery and Flea Marley is a must for anyone who likes breakneck timing and detectives who walk on the dark side. In Gone, an apparent carjacking turns into a kidnapping, then becomes even more sinister. While the detectives race against time to find the perpetrator before he strikes again, dark events from Flea's past threaten to overwhelm them both."--Carol Schneck, Schuler Books & Music, Okemos, Mich.
