(Book 16 in the Goldy Schulz series) I have not read a cozy like this series in a long time. I used to like them, so I thought I would try it since I could listen to the book on RBDIGITAL. First mistake is attempting to listen to any audiobook on RBD. I could not get the app to work. The people at RBD had told me you cannot return a book from the app. SO HOW ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO LISTEN TO THE NEXT BOOK???? I brought up the app and sure enough it had the last book I read and I had no way to get rid of it. Despite 5 emails and a call for assistance, I have heard nothing from RBDIGITAL. Either they do not care about customers or they are too busy handling multiple complaints due to the failures of the system that they had no time to help me. So, second bad choice. I thought, well I will just listen to the book on the website. You cannot set speed of play ( sometime readers are so slow that you cannot stand it ) or timers. If you go to bed and want the book to shut off in an hour because you fell asleep, you can do this on the app, but not the website. NOT USER FRIENDLY. I received a download error message 9 times while reading the book - or should I say attempting to read the book. Then if you are at minute 35 of a 59 minute chapter, you have no way to fast forward to where the error has occurred, you have to listen to the 35 minutes over again. REMEMBER 9 ERROR MESSAGES AND DO OVERS!!! I have 5 titles that I want to hear and cannot get in CD format during the pandemic. After that I will never use RBDIGITAL again. I might have liked the book more if I were not in a constant fear of an error message or had to listen to half the book twice. I am afraid that cozies no longer are my cup of tea. An irate reader. I think I've outgrown Goldy - or I've outgrown straightforward whodunits. When there's people like Lehane and Nevada Barr and C.J Sansom writing "mysteries" (though they're so much more), something like this just pales in comparison. However, the food writing is still wonderfully done and I turned the pages well enough; it's just that the story was already out of my memory bank by the time I put the book on the shelf. Also, I think Davidson is a lazy writer. After 450+ pages of moving-right-along action, she ends the book with a half dozen pages of exposition explaining the whodunit, rather than it being discovered in the action.

Not bad. Good mystery. Lots of good recipes. Yes, you read that correctly. Not my favourite mystery writer.

She seems to be changing a bit the way she is writing. I did not like the "more complex" ... think she is a better writer as a 'light read'. Story still good and will read her next one though.

Agreed that it was one of the more complicated who dunnit & why in this series, but notes-to-self included an ! after "good."

Enjoyable, but definitely not the strongest book in the Goldy Schultz series. The story was way longer than it needed to be and was bogged down by too many different subplots.

A good summer read - most enjoyable that I've read by her maybe because it's a slightly more complex story line, & more interesting characters

A fast read. A little bit frustrating that people in the book are getting away with things, that you know just would not happen. Over all, it was alright.

Goldy again goes to work to solve the who did it murder - this time 9 beagles are involved! Of course Davidson adds interesting characters as well as her stand by characters. An enjoyable read - doesn't disappoint Goldy fans.
