Sex and the City was the hugely popular TV series featuring Carrie Bradshaw, a columnist who writes about her relationships in a New York newspaper. But where did Carrie come from? Did she grow up in New York? No, she grew up in a small town somewhere in the state of New York and moves to the city when she is accepted into a school for writers. Her plans are to attend university immediately afterwards, but I haven't read that far yet. This book describes her teenage years, and it is an enjoyable read. None of her high school friends remain as her adult friends, but it was still fun to discover that the aunt of her teenage nemesis is the sexpot, kindhearted, and smart Samantha Jones. Samantha is the first friend Carrie makes upon moving to New York city.

When it came to the show you fell in love with the idea of Carrie & Sebastian but for the book Sebastian is just a complete dick. I'll find a new girl since you won't sleep with me?! None the less with her best friend?!

I've never been a follower of the Sex and the City show so the story worked OK with me. Candace Bushnell is a very good writer. The Carrie Diaries is a good entertaining read and it will keep you turning the pages.
