If you don't cry reading this, you're doing it wrong. I blubbed. . . a couple of times. This is a relationship novel, a story of emotions, from a male perspective - dogs and race cars and all. The writing is so direct, so clear, it's like being there.

I made many stops and starts with this book, believing that it was too sentimental for my reading taste, but the book proved me wrong! I ended up loving Enzo and wanting so much to pet him!! The last 100 pages are impossible to put down! Very Poignant dog tale for many readers, not just dog fans!

Enzo is a dog who regrets that his tongue is too long and flat to form words. He is also quite annoyed that the monkeys got the opposable thumbs. Despite his deficiencies, he figures out a way to tell the touching story of his owner's custody battle for his daughter. This book has it all: love, loss, car racing, and a talking dog. It is a very satisfying read with a great ending. The audio version is excellent as well. — Jan G., Penn Lake Library

Dog's perspective: **** Car racing: **

This was a quick read, with many "aha" moments for people closely connected with their dogs. Enzo writes well and it's the pinnacle of anthropomorphism, which many a dog family believes in. Only thing I didn't enjoy was: too much car racing. (Maybe the title should have warned me.) Recommended for people like me who don't usually read "dog-books" because we sort of live one daily.

The audio narration for this book is very good. This a detailed well written story. At times I would get so annoyed with the author though. The main characters daughter aside, all females in this story are poorly written and are the cause of most of the problems the main character faces. This book is totally a man-fest. The dog loves all these male actors and race car drivers, so many dudes. This book would not pass the betchdel test. It is still pretty good though and I cried in the end, because I'm human. Would recommend the audio.

A touching book with an interesting premise - a family observed and recounted through the eyes of the surprisingly human family dog. I won't say this book is perfect - there aren't any plot points which you won't see coming a mile away, and hopefully you're interested in racing more than I am, as you'll get paragraphs and paragraphs and whole chapters talking about it, but it's a very short read, and well worth it.

Couldn't get past the first chapter. This book is written from the viewpoint of the dog, as though dogs had the same thoughts and feelings as human beings. Instead of being cute, I found it exploited my human feelings about my dog and didn't care for the manipulation.

This book reminded me of another novel called "The Humans"; looking into humanity from an outside perspective. A story that will get you both frustrated and satisfied. This novel follows the life of a dog and family and presents the beauty in life's difficulties.

Excellent Documentary on the history and beliefs of Scientology. The film traces the movement from its initial beginning to the juggernaut it is today. A must see for anyone contemplating on becoming a member.

A tale in which Enzo, a loyal family dog, tells the story of his human family, how they nearly fell apart, and what he did to bring them back together. Enzo knows he is different from other dogs - he thinks and feels in nearly human ways. He has educated himself by watching extensive television, and by listening very closely to the words of his master, Denny Swift, an up-and-coming race car driver.

Enzo knows he is different from other dogs' a philospher with a nearly human soul (and a obsession with opposable thumbs), he has educated himself by watching television and listening carefully to the words of his master, Denny Swift, an up and coming race car driver. Now in his twightly years, Enzo finds himself thinking back on his life with the Swift family, reflecting on all he has learned about the human conditions and how life, like racing, is about so much more than simply going fast.
