When nineteen-year-old Gem of the Desert People, called Monstrous by the Smooth Skins, becomes the prisoner of the seventeen-year-old Smooth Skin queen, Isra, age-old prejudices begins to fall aside as the two begin to understand each other.
This book is a great book, and the author was able to change the original Disney story into something with much more action and meaning. The story was very well plotted, and I loved how the author was able to add in so many original ideas. >~<!! MUST READ!!
so good, i loved the characters, they represented well the life of problems in our own world, the rich and fat, and the poor and starving.

Its pointless.Hopeless. Even if she weren't afraid of me, we'll always be anemies at the core. She rules a wicked selfish city, and my tribe suffers for her people's comfort. She's a queen ; Im her prisoner. I resent her and she fears me, and there are times when i fear her too, I am her monster and she is mine. But right now, non eo f it matters.
Definitely a twist on the Beauty & the Beast we're all used to (the Disney version) and an interesting world that was created with the changes. I loved the characters and the way I couldn't always guess what was going to happen next with the plot.
This book is heavy on romance and light on action. Aspects of Disney's original tale are prominente, but used in entirely different ways. The world Stacey Jay created for this new adventure was exciting and adventerous. There are some unexpected twists in the plot, and the ending was very refreshing. However, there were times were I found the book rushed. In the beginning mostly, but it was no major flaw. All in all, this book is worth a good read.
