From the Vice President of Ghana, a coming-of-age memoir in the form of fable-like tales of the little-written-about post-colonial years in the country widely hailed as Africa's success story-- and of the burgeoning political consciousness of a young man destined to become a leader in his land. This is a memoir of post-colonial Ghana and a coming of age story from Mahama's youth through secondary school and university in Ghana and Russia. It takes place during the "lost decades" - a period of stagnation, dictatorships and emigration and exile. It provides a picture of the lesser known northern Ghana. A little repetitive, but nonetheless, interesting.
