This is a memoir of post-colonial Ghana and a coming of age story from Mahama's youth through secondary school and university in Ghana and Russia. It takes place during the "lost decades" - a period of stagnation, dictatorships and emigration and exile. It provides a picture of the lesser known northern Ghana. A little repetitive, but nonetheless, interesting.
