Anne Tyler writes believeable women characters, I appreciate and enjoy her work very much.

Anne Tyler is one of my favourite authors because she describes people as they really are. Mrs. Emerson is a widow living alone in a large house who fired her handyman. As Mrs. Emerson struggles to carry furniture from the porch to the garage, a young woman named Elizabeth comes along to help and is soon hired. She eventually meets the seven adult Emerson children and observes their eccentricities. I won't give away any more of the plot, but the family's story is told with humor and understanding.
