This is a book like one I've never read before! Sophie comes to a cold Southern Ontario town to nurse her dying mother. Her mother's cottage abuts an elephant Safari. Sophie interacts with the elephants there and is fascinated by Jo who tends the elephants. From Jo, Sophie learns to understand the elephants and develops a unique understanding of their "language."
Sophie's proclamations - yes the writer's - are very profound ; such as "We are all each others' world."
