A rich and unforgettable collection of short stories that read like beautiful poetry. The women in these stories are caught between the beliefs of their Indian heritage and those of their new homeland in America. Differences between culture, generations and the sexes all play a part in their struggle to find balance and happiness in their new lives.

An enjoyable collection of short stories about the South Asian visible minority experience in the United States; relationships between the children of immigrants; and the tension between the family in the homeland and the new world. An element of foreboding is a thread in each story that sometimes materializes and often vanishes. The author has a deft hand at character and a keen eye for colour and description of place.
