"Valerie Wyatt is at the top of her game--she has parlayed her talent for entertaining and home decorating into a multimedia empire, and her name is synonymous with class and exquisite taste. And yet, though she has achieved enviable professional success, her ambition and hard work have given her little room for a personal life. She is divorced, and though she has a strong relationship with her daughter, she finds herself alone as her 60th birthday approaches. Valerie's daughter, April, is also a dynamo in her chosen field. A top-notch chef, she owns her own restaurant--a cozy place that dishes up both comfort food and rare delicacies. The restaurant is a smashing success, and April devotes herself to it body and soul. Like her mother, she values professional success more than romance, and she cannot find any room for a man in her life as her 30th birthday grows nearer. The closest she has come to a relationship in years is an ill-advised one night stand. Jack Adams is a famous former NFL player, who is now an immensely successful sportscaster. He is also an incorrigible womanizer, who makes a habit of bedding models who are half his age. Nearing age 50 he begins to wonder if his wild ways still suit him, or if it's finally time to grow up. These three driven professionals share the same birthday. And this year, the day that they share will prove to be one that changes their lives forever. Their birthday will set into motion a dramatic series of events--danger, adventure, laughter, heartbreak, and joy...and, ultimately, the most fulfilling "birthday gift" of all"--

I like this novel although the story is not so dramatic, it is written in simple easy English.

"As her 60th birthday approaches, famous arbiter of style Valerie Wyatt finds herself alone. So too does her hard-working chef daughter, April, who is herself nearing her 30th birthday with a successful restaurant to show for it - but no love life. But life has surprises in store for both of them, and a chance encounter in an elevator and a romantic indiscretion lead to new chances at love. As in her other novels, author Danielle Steel delivers high drama, sad stories, and happy endings for her strong female characters. Grab it if you've got a hankering for romance, but if you don't, try Cathy Kelly's charming Always and Forever, which is also about women reevaluating their lives and priorities." Another great DS novel. Over the last few months as I have tried to get back into my leisure reading, i have completely felt in love with her novels. This novel was very predictable however at times I did question what would happen next. Overall she did an excellent job at developing her characters and putting together the perfect plot. I did feel that the ending was a little rushed but maybe there will be a part two. I am curious how the characters turned out.

I stopped reading Danielle Steel's books for a while because they all seemed to be the same. I decided to pick this one up and try again. It was worth the effort! Very different from what I remember her books were like. I enjoyed this book as I could really relate to the character!

This book has romance-novel aspects but is more about adjusting to life's changes. It was a good read but I expected more of a love story.

The thing I like about Danielle Steel's books is they are so easy to read and sometimes hard to put down.
