Terrific book. Not only are three centuries of kitchen items covered, but included are period recipes, advertisements, quotes from contemporary books, magazine articles, and newspaper clippings revealing tidbits of thoughts and concerns of the time. There is one lovely one lamenting the demise of the traveling gypsy "tickerman" and effect of his example on generations of boys, of how to make and mend, and "make do" rather than run to the store to buy new what could be repaired. I did not expect a book on kitchen collectibles to be so fascinating.
