Boston, 1868. The Civil War may be over, but a new war has begun, one between the past and the present, tradition and technology. On a former marshy wasteland, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology is rising, its mission to harness science for the benefit of all and to open the doors of opportunity to everyone. But bizarre catastrophes soon envelop the Boston area. Is it sabotage by scientific means or nature revolting against man's attempts to control it?

Includes a good mystery.

Too long, too stale and too agitating as you wait for this novel to spark some interest that never happens. 0 of 10 stars

The book is quite enjoyable - dramatic and interesting. However, I found that my enjoyment was lessened by the overly theatrical voice of the narrator. His cadence reminds me of some combination of Captain Kirk and and the penguins from Madagascar - which, while amusing, is a bit much for an 18 hour long narration.
