Never expected to be funny ,delighted movie ... well done

This is a ridiculous movie and yet so moving. The janitor used to be the conductor of the orchestra and he catches a fax inviting the current one to play in France. Off go the hijinks to fill an orchestra and connect with a young woman, now a famous violinist, to try and link her to her past. Full of stereotypes, somewhat predictable yet moving nevertheless.

Directed by Radu Mihăileanu in 2009, this French dramedy cuminates in the concert, which has a wobbly beginning due to the lack of rehearsals then manages to reach the conductor's ideal of spontaneous harmony once the solo violinist mesmerizes everyone with her magnificent interpretation of the solo part, which she had studied on her mother's annotated score.
The musical work has a central role in the film.
Played during the final scene is the Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 35 by Tchaikovsky.
Also included on the soundtrack are classical selections by Mahler, Mendelssohn, Mozart and Khachaturian.
If you're a music lover---Tchaikovsky in particular, this is a must-see.

A musical mission impossible full of delightful suspense.
Survivors/Rocky elevated by sharp satire of ex-USSR and French bureaucracy/politics.
For those who enjoy this film, watch Marguerite, a French take on the life/career of Florence Foster Jenkins.

This is a gem. Hilarious, tragic, and uplifting. Insight into life in pre- and post-communist Russia as well as an antic behind the scenes glimpse of the music world.

Such a wonderful movie!! I laughed, I cried. Although I didn't believe the first half of the movie was outstanding, the last half more than makes up for it. The final concert fulfills all one's hopes. I can't recommend this highly enough.

The indiscipline members of the orchestra cause a few suspend moments. They are successful to prove their worth at the end. It could not happen in reality. It's for dreamers!
