I enjoy Mary Balogh's work, especially when I'm in the mood for a (mildly) formulaic Regency romance with plucky characters. I think I've read this twice and each time, I have to re-read the first half again. You'll understand why once you pick up this delightful novella.

I really loved this book! Not your usual cookie-cutter plot!

A fast read, since it's a novella. But wow! This is the kind of book you have to read twice. And possibly more

in this novella, Balogh rises above her story formula and gives an intriguing example of the British social system

I really liked this book. Set in the 1800s in England, one of my very favourite times to read about. A real twist in the tale.

A very sweet tale with an enchanting plot twist! Not her usual storytelling which was very refreshing.

Transparent plot twist, and retrospective approach is not my favorite.
