Add NoticesFrightening or Intense Scenes: Here's the deal. It's a little gorier than the first book. If you couldn't handle the death and blood in the first one, I recommend that you don't read this one or the next one. A good book if you can handle crying your eyes out over characters, situations, and an abrupt cliffhanger.

Add a SummaryIn the second book of The Hunger Games trilogy, Katniss Everdeen is struggling. Even though she has won The 74th Hunger Games, with Peeta Mellark, and safely returned home. Panem has been changed forever and the flames of a revolution have been spreading. And it's one that Katniss and Peeta may have unintentionally started. The stakes are higher than ever in Catching Fire. Katniss must decide on survival or love. She honestly doesn't know anymore.
The second book in the Hunger Game series. It is mesmerizing and exciting as the first. I can't wait to read the third book.
The book "Catching Fire" is about katniss and peeta and how their life changes after they get back from the Hunger Games as the new victors .
Katniss hopes that now that she has returned back home to District 12 everything will return to normal. But she very soon realizes that things will ever be the same ever again. The berries she once thought were her escape have now planted seeds of rebellion in the districts against the Capitol. Peeta feels betrayed, Gale keeps her at a cold distance and Katniss finds herself lost, confused and alone. Their lives are further complicated with the wildcard of the 75th Hunger Games when it is announced that the tributes will be chosen from the existing pool of victors. Katniss consequently goes into the arena; however, this time she has a very different mindset. She vows to protect Peeta’s life and ensure that he wins no matter the cost. But it soon becomes very obvious that the odds most certainly are not in Katniss’ favor.
Katniss and Peeta won the annual hunger games and now they must try to survive in another place.
Katniss Everdeen had survived the Hunger Games along with her "boyfriend" Peeta Mellark! She hopes that once she returns home, her life can get back to normal. But things will never be the same for Katniss ever again. Prim is more adult than tween, Gale holds her at an icy distance, and Peeta pretty much ignores her.
While living in her new home in the Victor's Village, Katniss learns about the "change" in this year's Hunger Games. Instead of having a new boy and girl tribute from each district compete in the Games, a boy and girl victor from each district will be submitted into one big battle to see which victor survives. Katniss enters the Hunger Games devoted to protecting Peeta's life rather than hers, because this time, there will be only one victor. Katniss may have survived the last Hunger Games, but this time, the odds are most definitely not in her favor.
Katniss and Peeta have come out of the hunger games alive. katniss must convince all of Panem that she loves Peeta when she goes on the victory tour.
But president Snow annouces the third Quarter Quell a fight to the death between a female and male victor of the hunger games of each district and Katniss know shes going back into the arena, and this time she must save Peeta.
Katniss and Peeta must once again try to survive in a newly connived arena in the next year's Hunger Games. Love, betrayal, and hurt...amazing book!!
Katniss Everdeen is returning home after winning the 74th annual Hunger Games with her "boyfriend" Peeta Mellark. They visit the other districts on a victory tour, and each make speeches about the fallen tributes. When they finally arrive home, Katniss meets two girls from district 8 planning on going to a bombed district, district 13, where it is said survivors live underground.
On the 75th annual Hunger Games
on the Quarter Quell, tributes who have the Hunger Games in the past are chosen to participate, instead of all new tributes. Katniss is chosen by default and Peeta volunteers for Haymitch when he is chosen. In the beach-like arena, Katniss discovers it is set like a clock.
When the Hunger Games is finally over, she discovers that her home, district 12, has been bombed and destroyed.

Add a CommentIts a GREAT Book, and I admit I watched the movie before I had finished the book, but both were still really good! I love the fact there were more characters to besides Peeta, Kantiss, and Gale, (They all just annoy me) I like Finnick and Johana I thought they were great. I love Catching Fire Better than the first book.

I really LOVE the Hunger Games series, as Suzanne Collins is really amazing at writing stories that engage you, and make you feel that you are actually in the books. I rate this series 5 out of 5 stars, and these books are one of my favourite stories.
Normally the second book in a Trilogy is the most tedious one, since it's the middle of the story. But Catching Fire kept me just as intrigued as The Hunger Games did. The cliffhanger at the end is killing me, and like last time, I put the next book on hold almost immediately after reading this. Collins describes Panem with such intensity that it feels like Panem actually exists. She's used up most of the best ideas for story writing and has used them to create a masterpiece, but I feel it's a lot harder to write unique Sci-Fi now for inspring writers! -Lyla, age 12

Catching Fire is one of my favourite books in the trilogy, because it highlights the characters, Katniss and Peeta’s reign as victors, and the action-packed thrill that fans have learnt to love. I personally prefer this book over its previous one because the storyline and plot are much more well-developed and more interesting. Honestly speaking, I regret reading the first book because Catching Fire and Mockingjay were all I needed to make me like the characters and appreciate the series. Rating 4/5

I was pleasantly surprised with "Catching Fire" by Suzanne Collins. Unlike several other sequels that I've read, "Catching Fire" was just as unputdownable, maybe even more so, than the original novel. Katniss Everdeen, the fierce and independent heroine is back in this action-packed, well paced followup where she must learn to survive like never before....or else. I couldn't stop reading this fast paced book that connects richly imaginative dystopia to shocking real-life examples that will open your eyes (and engage your mind). I recommend to teens and adults alike.

The deal was that if you won the Hunger Games, you could go back to a good life in your District, good food on the table, and a house in Victor Village. Even if you were an unusual case, even if you were only one of two winners in the Hunger Games, even when you unknowingly caused a rebellion in the districts which the Capitol isn't already too happy about. But it's time for the third Quarter Quell and the reading of the card. Whatever is written on the card is going to force Katniss to go back to the arena, not to mention the Capitol tracking her every move since she is cause of a rebellion.

I have read the whole series and I really enjoyed it. I feel a bit like the second book is underrated because it's in the middle, but I don't think it should be. I loved the intensity of the 75th Hunger Games and the twists that the plot took. I am generally a big fan of of post-war dystopia and so I thought this book was great and definitely action-packed.
This is one of the only books I've read in a Series where the second book is better than the first. It was so good and I would say the same for all of her books. Katniss is a great roll model for younger people as she is fighting for what she believes in. This book is great!
Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins is a very good sequel to the first book in the series. The book is about Katniss and her going to the hunger games for the second time in a row. The book is a lot more boring than the first book. I recommend the book but it might not be the best read.
I liked the first book, which i read on a trip, then I forgot about it. Can't wait to read this one.
P.S: The movies are trash compared to these.
