I suppose that when this book was published in 1975 there may have been two or three people in the world who would have found it interesting. I myself found it about as interesting as a foreign train schedule. For the purpose of this comment I opened it at random and found myself on pages 144-5. This one sentence there exemplifies everything:

"From the valley of Longre Chu he moved into that of the Rinchen Chu and to the village of Sefu (9,000 feet) where the wheat crops were being threshed; thence onwards upwards to Maruthang (11,800 feet) where the continuation of the Rinchen Chu is known as the Maru Chu and where an abundance of primulas splashed much of the landscape, especially on marshy ground, with white and yellow; the white flowers of P. involucrata (3355) and the yellow ones of that form (3353) of P. alpicola known as 'luna' which Kingdon Ward had discovered in Tibet in 1924."

Evidently the publisher's finances did not extend to paying for an editor, but nothing could save that sort of writing.
