Not nearly as good as other books by Preston and Child. Although using a similar cast, I found myself struggling to finish the book

At first I thought it was just another nonsense about zombies. But as I read, I realized that the book is not bad, bearing in mind the genre of it.

Entertaining. For anyone who's been getting sick of the ongoing Pendergast story arc, this book kicks back to what probably drew you to these authors in the first place: modern day monsters that may or may not be supernatural.

In this latest installment of the Agent Pendergast saga, zombies seem to be running amok on Manhattan Island. When Bill Smithback, a longtime friend and celebrated journalist is murdered, NYPD homicide detective D'Agosta is bent on revenge. Pendergast also appears on the case, but is careful to note the particular aspects of the crime, namely that the perpetrator caught on film performing the murder had himself died two weeks earlier. A cult located in the woods on the north part of Manhattan Island is suspected due to Smithback's expose articles on their practice of animal sacrifice, and while D'Agosta becomes intent on finding the killer at the cult compound, Pendergast wonders if there may be more than a little grain of truth in the legend of a re-animated corpse hell-bent on murder.
