The Flinx series is supposedly 'young adult' fiction, probably because the main protagonist is in his early or mid twenties. It's a great read and plot that remains engaging without having too much violence in it. 'Hard' science fiction (i.e. lots of spaceships, planet-destroying weapons and a quest to save the galaxy). A bit cheesy for my taste when it comes to the relationship between the main character and his girlfriend, and the dialogues are a little too stiff and scientific to be entirely credible. But I enjoyed all the books.
